Day 7: The Solstice (The Rebirth)

7 Days of Late Autumn | Day 7: The Solstice

Tonight, the dark stays long enough to unpack its bags.

It is the longest night of the year,

the absolute bottom of the wheel,

where the earth holds its breath in the pitch black.

But there is a secret hidden in the solstice.

To get any darker than this is impossible.

Tomorrow, the sun will stay for one minute longer.

Then two. Then ten.

We have reached the edge of the shadow.

From here on out, every single step we take

is a step back toward the light.
